BARCELONA, August 07, 2025 – TransPerfect, the world’s largest provider of language and AI solutions for global business with offices in 19 countries, will return for the second consecutive year as an official sponsor of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival in Barcelona, Spain.
Now in its 58th edition, the festival will run October 9–19, 2025. By renewing its sponsorship, TransPerfect reaffirms its commitment to the audiovisual industry and its support for global storytelling. The festival will open with Julia Ducournau’s Alpha (2025), with English subtitling provided by TransPerfect Media.
Starring Jehnny Beth, Alpha takes place in a future where the evolution of the species is mediated by scientific experimentation. The film marks Ducournau’s return after her Palme d’Or-winning film Titane (2021).
Festival Details
The sponsorship was officially announced during a presentation at the Fàbrica Moritz Barcelona on July 16, 2025. During the event, organizers unveiled this year’s thematic focus, highlighting a strong presence of films exploring dystopia, psychological horror, and technological futures. Humor will also play a central role this year, with a special emphasis on its integration into horror and fantasy cinema—accompanied by a series of related activities.
This year’s selection jury will include Canadian filmmaker Jovanka Vuckovic, Argentine producer Hernán Findling, special effects expert Laura Pedro, director Mary Harron (American Psycho), and filmmaker Peter Chan.
