TransPerfect Media at the Festival de Cannes 2025: Celebrating Storytelling on the Global Stage

As the global film industry gathered on the sun-soaked shores of the Côte d’Azur, TransPerfect proudly returned to the Cannes Film Festival as an official sponsor.

Throughout the two-week event, TransPerfect Media, the media and entertainment division of TransPerfect, was on-site celebrating the innovation, artistry, and localization expertise that define our work. For this 78th edition of the Festival de Cannes, our team was proud to contribute services to over 40 titles featured across the official selection. From subtitling to sound and image post-production, visual effects, and restoration, our work played a role in bringing the stories told at this year’s festival to international audiences—seamlessly and authentically.

The festival opened on May 13 with a screening of Partir Un Jour (Leave One Day), the heartfelt debut from French director Amélie Bonnin, followed by the highly anticipated Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which lit up the red carpet with appearances by director Christopher McQuarrie and star Tom Cruise.

The closing ceremony, held on May 24, celebrated the creative achievements of the 22 films in competition. The jury, presided over by acclaimed French actress Juliette Binoche, included an impressive international panel: Halle Berry, Payal Kapadia, Alba Rohrwacher, Leïla Slimani, Dieudo Hamadi, Hong Sangsoo, Carlos Reygadas, and Jeremy Strong. Their collective insights shaped an awards list that honored powerful, diverse storytelling—including several projects TransPerfect Media was privileged to support.

Among these was the Palme d’Or recipient A Simple Accident by Jafar Panahi, for which we provided French and English subtitles on behalf of Les Films Pelléas, helping the film reach viewers across linguistic borders. Sirât, directed by Oliver Laxe, won the Jury Prize, with our teams managing 16mm reel scanning, processing, and subtitling for 4 A 4 Productions. The film was also sound-mixed by Lima Limón Estudio at TransPerfect Media’s Dolby Atmos facilities in Barcelona. Resurrection by Bi Gan took home the Special Prize; for this project, we delivered Foley and visual effects for CG Cinéma. Finally, Jeunes Mères, directed by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne, won Best Screenplay, with our team providing image post-production and visual effects for Archipel 35, ensuring the film’s intimate story was delivered with technical precision.

Outside of screenings and awards, the city of Cannes was buzzing with activity. At the Innovation Village (Pantiero), MPC Paris presented the panel Faster, Higher, Stronger – How Technological Advances in VFX Are Boosting Creativity in collaboration with Film France-CNC and MAC GUFF. The session featured Beatrice Bauwens, Head of MPC Paris and Liège, and MPC VFX Supervisor Lise Fischer, who shared insights into the cutting-edge world of visual effects and the creative processes behind MPC Paris’ recent work, including L’inconnu de la Grande Arche by Stéphane Demoustier, which was selected for the festival this year. As a newly acquired studio, MPC Paris & Liège’s expertise marks an exciting expansion in TransPerfect Media’s capabilities in visual effects.

Across the port, the Plage des Palmes was a central hub for industry conversations and creative exchange. Each day, our TransPerfect Media team welcomed clients, collaborators, and curious creatives for meetings that sparked new ideas and strengthened existing partnerships. Our team also captured exclusive interviews with some of our key collaborators, getting their thoughts on everything from this year’s selections to the ways localization enhances the film viewing experience.

At NIFS & Cannes, a two-day summit on the African Film market, TransPerfect Media’s Jacques Van Hollebeke and Jacques Barreau discussed the future of storytelling and localization. Their talk focused on how AI-powered workflows are helping TransPerfect Media amplify African narratives, enabling creators across the continent to share their stories with international audiences without losing cultural authenticity or artistic voice.

From the red carpet to the post-production suite, Cannes 2025 was a celebration of what drives us at TransPerfect Media: craftsmanship, innovation, and global connection. Congratulations to all the winners, and to our brilliant teams across TransPerfect Media whose work helped filmmakers’ stories shine on the global stage. We are proud to have helped bring so many unforgettable stories to the screen—and we’re just getting started.
